Autumn is here, and East Atlanta Village Farmers Market (EAVFM) is putting together cozy activities to bring the warmth of good food and neighborly camaraderie to the last few months of the year. With the market’s season winding down, two popular seasonal events are on the calendar for the next few weeks.
The festivities begin with the annual Halloween Chili Night on October 26. The community is invited to come to the market in costume, ready to enjoy Halloween activities. There will be chili made from locally sourced ingredients, many of which shoppers will be able to purchase at the market that night. There will be both meat and vegetarian options. Bring the kids, parents, and your appetite for the first of the holiday fare. The market opens at 4:00pm and closes around 8:00pm every Thursday. It is located at 572 Stokeswood Avenue in East Atlanta.
One of the most popular events of the year, the Giving Thanks Potluck, takes over the EAVFM on November 16, transforming it into a welcoming dinner party complete with great food and beverages, family and friends. That night, the market and community celebrate with a delightful dinner provided by East Atlanta chefs and community members. In addition to great food, there are fall-inspired beverages, a bonfire, and EAV’s own version of a “turkey pardon.”
The farmers market closes early that night (6:00pm) so that everyone can come together, celebrate the bounty of the year, and give thanks to wonderful farmers, vendors, customers, and community members who make the market possible. This event is free and open to all. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish. Make your favorite and share with neighbors and new friends. The food and drinks are free to all who attend, but carrying your own utensils is encouraged.
