On October 28, from 10:00am until 2:00pm, King Middle School will host the inaugural “Commit to King” Fall Festival in partnership with its feeder schools. For the first time in the cluster’s history, students from Parkside, Toomer, Burgess Peterson Academy, Benteen, Michelle & Barack Obama Academy (formerly Stanton), and Dunbar are invited to a joint fall festival at King Middle and enjoy the activities for free. All other community members and families can purchase tickets for a nominal fee.
“We think this would be a perfect way to start bringing our kids together before they enter into middle school together,” said Katie Howard, Parkside parent and chair of the festival planning committee. “And why not celebrate King’s grounds by putting on a joint event?”
In addition to the traditional fall festival activities, event-goers will enjoy a variety of food, live DJ, reptile show, dance performances, and more. “There will be activities for kids of all ages to enjoy – from kindergarteners to middle schoolers,” added Katie.
All area families are welcome. King Middle School is located at 545 Hill Street. The campus has recently been renovated, including all new sports fields and facilities. The school will be open for tours during the Commit to King Fall Festival on October. 28.
