Come support the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School and enjoy what’s sure to be one of the best parties of the year: the Wonder Ball.
ANCS has selected “wonder” as the theme of its 11th annual auction as a way to capture the magic and creativity of the school. The party will be held on Saturday, March 8 from 5:00pm to 11:00pm at the historic Georgia Freight Depot in downtown Atlanta.
“This party never disappoints in terms of fun, great auction items, and fantastic food, and this year promises to be the best ever,” said Latha Erickson, one of the event’s co-chairs. “We would love to see the entire community come out for the party this year.”
Hundreds of items will be auctioned, and this year’s exciting new mobile bidding system will make it easier than ever to win everything from a week at a fabulous vacation home to a fantastic restaurant gift certificate. The auction also includes a series of raffles. Lucky winners take home entire tables loaded with merchandise tied to a carefully selected theme. “Whether you get caught up in the auction or just hang out with friends, you’ll have a blast,” Erickson said.
ANCS serves students from kindergarten through the 8th grade at its two campuses – the elementary school in Grant Park and the middle school in Ormewood Park.
The school, which is a 501(c)3 organization, was created more than a decade ago by a group of local parents who partnered with teachers and community members. They had a vision for a new approach to public education that focused on creative learning and relied on parental involvement.
ANCS is a thriving institution that has been named a finalist for the Georgia “Charter School of the Year” by the Georgia Charter Schools Association. The public school receives less Atlanta Public School funding than traditional schools, and the annual auction is its biggest fundraiser of the year. The money raised through the auction goes directly to the school’s operating budget.
