Neighbor in Need is an East Atlanta Community Association initiative that assists elderly homeowners in the East Atlanta area perform emergency home repairs that, if left unchecked, would make a home uninhabitable or unsafe. It is a block-by-block, home-by-home, volunteer-run, and neighborhood-supported initiative to prevent elderly homelessness and blighted property. They use qualified, licensed, and local contractors to do the work at a reduced rate.
The organization would like to thank their contracting partners, including Bell Roofing, New Light Electric, Fire and Ice HVAC, M. Cary and Daughters Plumbing, The Entry Enforcer, Michael Sink Carpentry, and many more. This group has kept dozens of needy seniors safely in their homes and helped to prevent homes from becoming empty, which often leads to crime, decreases property values, and generally harms a neighborhood.
