GPPN Upcoming Events

By Marie Mower
The Grant Park Parent’s Network (GPPN) annual costume parade will start at Milledge Fountain off Cherokee Street at 5:00pm on October 27. The route is within Grant Park boundaries and ends at the gazebo lawn in Grant Park at 5:30pm. This year’s costume contest has fantastic prizes such as four tickets provided by the Center for Puppetry Arts, two adult “Rep your Hood” T-shirts donated by Jordan at RYH, and free swim lessons with the Atlanta Swim School, given by Coach Sabir. Contestants will be judged by GPPN sponsor, Holcomb Insurance. Bring a picnic dinner and blanket (or chairs) to enjoy post-parade activities until 7:00pm when you can join the Grant Park Conservancy’s Lantern Parade.
Pajama & Puppet’s show on the November features “That Puppet Guy” (Lee Bryan) performing a hilarious production with a pig, Little Red Riding Hood, and a wolf.
Interested in a cultural activity? The GPPN is partnering with PJ’s library to share a story and craft relating to a Jewish holiday.
Beautify your neighborhood with the “Daffodil Project” a fundraiser and a community event to plant hundreds of bulbs in select areas. GPPN volunteers are currently offering bags of bulbs ($6.00 suggested donation) until November 10. Support the effort with a contribution and/or help plant the bulbs on November 10 for a couple of hours.
Save the Date: December 8 and 9: Winter Wonderland and the Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes.
