Enjoy the best traditions of autumn right in our backyard. Bob for an apple, ride a pony, or sit back, relax, and listen to our neighborhood’s favorite entertainment at the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s (ANCS) Fall Festival.
On Saturday, October 20, the school will host a traditional fall festival with pony rides, harvest-style crafts and games, food, live music, and activities to celebrate the season. Held on the school grounds of the elementary school campus at 688 Grant Street, the festival will take place from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
DJ Amy Handler of AM 1690’s “The Kids Are Alright” Radio Show will be spinning her tunes and emceeing games, including the Cake Walk. Live entertainment will include guitarist Jimmy Galloway, the Front Porch Session Players, and Fun Party.
The event will feature activities for all ages – pony rides, a dunking booth, pumpkin bowling, apple bobbing, pumpkin painting and carving, lantern making (for the Grant Park Lantern Parade), a bake sale, cake walk, arts and crafts, contests, and more.
Proceeds of the festival support the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School’s Annual Fund. The school needs to raise at least $400 per student through the yearly fundraising efforts to continue to provide the same student-teacher ratios, art, music, and PE programs that are an important part of the school’s curriculum.
“We are grateful for parents and neighbors who support our school. This is a fun way to make a contribution and support our school and neighborhood children” said Lara Zelski, principal of the Atlanta Neighborhood Charter School, elementary campus.
A special thanks to the event sponsors already on board for this year’s event: Garden*Hood, Grant Park Coffeehouse, Grant Park Parents Network, Holcomb Insurance Service, Intown Healthy Hound, Intown Pediatrics, and District 1 Representative Carla Smith.
“The school needs and appreciates sponsors who help to make the event a success and raise more money for the school” said Ashley Miller, co-chair of the festival.
