Urban Wings Opens in East Atlanta

By Paul Bolster

A new restaurant has opened where Delia’s Chicken Sausage Stand used to be on Moreland Avenue. General Manager Amanda Spencer said this was the perfect place for their third Urban Wings location. She loves all the activity in the area including new apartments and new businesses. They opened their first location on Collier Road near Buckhead on December 9, 2021 in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic. “That took some guts.” Before working at the restaurants, Spencer was in the catering business. “Now I have a place to cater from and people to cater to,” she said. “I love the energy in this part of town and look forward to being a part of the community.”

She thinks she has the “best wings in town” with a full array of sides. She is especially proud of their 32 flavors of sauce. The restaurant offers a variety of menu items including bone-in and boneless wings, chicken tenders, a chicken sandwich, panko shrimp, and vegan wings, nuggets, and tenders. Spencer hopes people will come and watch football games and other sports on the inside and outside TV screens or pick up wings for home watching. Customers can order online at www.myurbanwings.com. One of her customers, Tony Hayes, while waiting for his order, said he loves these “wonderful wings. My kind of food.”

If you are traveling north on Moreland Avenue, it is hard to turn into the restaurant. There is a back entrance off Glenwood Avenue that is safer and more convenient.
