Trees Atlanta has hired a herd of sheep to eat kudzu this summer! The program, called Have Ewe Herd??, kicked off with the event “Breakfast with the Sheep,” an opportunity for Atlanta citizens to come and meet the sheep. It was a fun, local, free morning to pet sheep, enjoy free refreshments, and learn about how these sheep are helping humans and forests!
The sheep have generated a lot of enthusiasm from the community in the past two years, because citizens recognize and appreciate this environmentally friendly method of removing invasive plants from the Atlanta area. The sheep will be at different green space locations throughout the summer, and Chastain is the first stop. Trees Atlanta invites the public to bring the family and see the sheep in action for themselves. For more details on the sheep and the program, please visit www.treesatlanta.org/HaveEweHerd.aspx.
