On Friday, June 14, Zoo Atlanta hosted an evening of animals, magic, rides, and surprises for more than 500 courageous children and their families at the third annual Dreamnight at the Zoo.
The evening’s guests of honor were served by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. The event began at 4 p.m., and the Zoo remained open until 7 p.m. exclusively for the children and their loved ones.
“A childhood trip to the Zoo is a cherished memory for so many people, and it’s an opportunity we all too often take for granted,” said Raymond B. King, President and CEO. “Illness and injury shouldn’t have to be barriers to these special moments, and we’re proud to open the Zoo on a night we hope will be a bright spot for these amazing children and their families.”
Begun in 1996 at Rotterdam Zoo, Netherlands, Dreamnight is now observed at zoos and aquariums in more than 30 countries around the world. Highlights of Zoo Atlanta’s third annual event included Zoo tours; keeper talks and animal feedings; rides and entertainment; and meet-and-greets with costume characters.
Host Partners included Tents Unlimited and Event Rentals Unlimited. Food and refreshments were provided by Sodexo. In-kind sponsors were K&M International Inc. and Stephen Joseph Gifts.
