The Friends of East Atlanta Library look forward to 2015

By Gina Root
The Friends of East Atlanta Library (FEAL) have already been planning ahead for a busy 2015. The Friends will again be holding four book sales in 2015. The first is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 from 12:00pm until 4:00pm. More book sales are scheduled for mid-June, during the East Atlanta Strut in September, and a holiday book sale in early December.
FEAL has also lined up several artists for exhibition on the art wall of the library’s meeting room. The first artists planned for the year is the “Three T’s Art Team” (Time, Talent, and Treasure). This is a neighborhood group and art program for mental illness recovery that operates out of Woodland Hills Baptist Church. The Three T’s art is planned to be on display from mid-January through mid-March. Please inquire at the library circulation desk to view the art. A reception honoring the artists is planned for Saturday, February 7 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Everyone is welcome to attend the reception.
A new program that FEAL is happy to present for 2015 is a reading club for busy adults. The “One Hour or Less Reading Club” will explore a new magazine article from a range of cultural events and popular topics each month. The articles will be chosen from magazines such as The New Yorker, Art News, and Reason. The club will meet monthly on Monday evenings from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the East Atlanta Library meeting room. Starting in early January, the upcoming articles for each month’s discussion will be available at the library circulation desk or on the Friends of East Atlanta Facebook page. The first monthly meeting will be on Monday, January 26 at 6:30pm. Subsequent meetings are planned for February 16, March 30, and April 27.
