Support the Friends of the East Atlanta Library

By Lyn Hillman

The Friends of the East Atlanta Library (FEAL) is inviting the community to join in its efforts to support the library. One-year memberships are available at several levels: Individual ($10), Family ($15), Signature ($25), and Book Lover ($50 including a free tote bag). FEAL is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides funds for programs for children and adults. Memberships and donations are tax-deductible and help to support events including the summer reading program and art exhibitions by local artists. along with providing funds for supplies and equipment not covered by the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System (AFPLS) budget. FEAL also raises funds at its quarterly book sales. While events have been on hold during the COVID pandemic, the board hopes to resume its programming in the near future.

FEAL is also currently looking to add new members to its board of directors. The group welcomes residents from nearby areas from all backgrounds. The board holds quarterly meetings and votes on requests from library branch staff to fund programs and supplies, along with running the book sales. Board members serve three-year terms.
