Support Oakland Cemetery

By Historic Oakland Foundation Staff

Historic Oakland Foundation (HOF) is excited to kick off its annual membership drive. For more than four decades, HOF has worked to preserve, enhance, restore, and share Oakland Cemetery, an important neighborhood greenspace where Atlanta’s history comes alive.

Member support empowers HOF to address critical needs throughout the cemetery, from high-profile projects like restoring the historic East Hill and building a new East Gate to welcoming 1,600+ students on field trips and beautifying the grounds with new landscaping.

Members know they are helping preserve a treasured Atlanta landmark. They also receive a variety of great benefits:

  • First pick of tickets for select HOF special events, including Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween Tours (which always sell out)
  • Discounted tickets to Sunday in the Park featuring Tunes from the Tombs (tickets went on sale June 15.)
  • Admission to our Spring and Fall Plant Sale member preview events
  • Discounted tickets to special programs such as “Love Stories of Oakland” and “Malts and Vaults of Oakland: Where Beer Meets History”
  • Invitations to exclusive members-only events
  • Free admission to regularly scheduled tours
  • 10% off purchases at our Museum Store

As an extra incentive, members who join Historic Oakland Foundation or renew their existing memberships this month will be automatically entered to win one of four terrific prize packs:

  • Join from June 1 to June 7 and you could win FOUR tickets to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, a $50 gift
  • Join from June 16 to June 23 for the chance to win TWO tickets to a walking tour with the Atlanta Preservation Center, a $200 gift card to Grant Park Market, TWO tickets to the Bike Tours of Atlanta tour of your choice, FOUR tickets to Sunday in the Park ft. Tunes from the Tombs at Oakland Cemetery, and an Oakland Cemetery T-shirt!
  • Join from June 24 to June 30 for the chance to win a free walking tour of Cabbagetown for up to five people with The Patch Works Art and History Center, A Friends of The Fox membership at the $100 Friend Level, FOUR tickets to Capturing the Spirit of Oakland 2022, and a copy of Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery: An Illustrated Guide by Helen and Ren Davis.

Plus, all members who join or renew in June will be entered in the grand prize drawing for a Friends of The Fox membership at the $100 Friend Level, FOUR general admission tickets to the High Museum of Art, a $50 gift card to DAS BBQ, a signed copy of A Culinary History of Atlanta by Akila Sankar McConnell from AtlantaFood Walks, FOUR VIP tickets to Capturing the Spirit of Oakland, and a “Rosemary for Remembrance” Oakland Cemetery candle from our Museum Store.

To support the investments HOF is making in an enhanced membership experience, we are increasing the price of membership on July 1 for the first time in seven years! Join in June and get a year of membership at our existing rate before the increase.
