It’s September, so what does that mean in East Atlanta Village? It means it’s Strut month!
On Saturday September 25, the EAV Strut returns for the 24th consecutive year, to East Atlanta. The Strut is one of the few (if not only?) local festivals that continued in 2020 despite the pandemic, with a sensible and thoughtful transition to a new format.
When planning began in February for 2021, the state of communal health was headed in the right direction, but with permitting questionable and no crystal ball, the decision was made to continue with the format from 2020 which allows all residents to participate on any level they feel comfortable.
This year again, the event is held outdoors, at homes and businesses, in and around the Village. It includes a rolling parade and live stream from a truck moving around the festival, so all neighbors can participate, even from the comfort of their home.
There will be no street closures, and this year the Strut is happy to have so many businesses able to participate and sponsor; last year, many were still closed due to COVID restrictions. This year our contest finals will be held in the Village center near local businesses at the festival crossroads.
The Strut and their generous sponsors, support and organize events including the returning, and very popular, Leaf Blower Madness and Llama Poop Bingo, along with some classic friends like The Roll. Added as new events, are the Pet Parade, Rum Desert Bake Off (in honor ofKatherine Carter), Strut your Garden Tour, and the Strut Hunt.
There will be food and drink available at your favorite local establishments, as well as food vendors and food trucks at different locals. Since there are no street closures, bikes, skateboards, scooters, stilts, all welcome. The Strut will also sponsor a shuttle bus with pick up/drop off at designated parking lots and stops throughout the festival district.
September 25, 12:00-6:00pm, EAV Strut in East Atlanta. If you would like more information, check out the website at www.eastatlantastrut.com. More volunteers are always welcome.
Come join your neighbors, family, and friends and Strut Your Neighborhood, East Atlanta Village.
