Southern Feedstore Breathes New Life into Classic EAV Watering Hole

By Guilherme Shakespeare

Southern Feedstore, located at 1245 Glenwood Avenue in East Atlanta Village (EAV), has hit its stride.

After a complete renovation of the old Graveyard Tavern, Southern Feedstore held its grand opening on New Year’s Eve 2021. The eclectic food hall/music venue currently has four of its six booths open and one under construction while the final spot remains in contention among a slew of candidates.

Gyro Gyro’s Greek cuisine, Waffle Bar’s chicken and waffles, and Woody’s Famous Philadelphia Cheesesteaks make eating out quick, affordable, and delicious. Slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2022, TKO Korean street food is certain to further diversify the food hall’s menu. Food is served daily from 8:00am until midnight weekdays and until 4:00am Fridays and Saturdays.

Buteco, whose original Grant Park location has earned several Best of Atlanta awards, serves coffee, craft beers, unique cocktails, and more Caipirinhas (Brazil’s national cocktail, made with cachaça, sugar, and lime) than anywhere this side of the Amazon River. Buteco also programs live entertainment at SFS seven days per week. Karaoke on Monday and open mic on Tuesday, kick things off before Atlanta’s finest jazz, funk, country, indie, and Latin acts fill out the remainder of the week. Buteco’s annual celebration of Brazilian Carnaval took place in February with a traditional live samba band, a dazzling capoeira performance, and nonstop revelry.

The Village has served as Atlanta’s bohemian and live music epicenter for over two decades. Southern Feedstore has barely begun etching its initials into the grain of Atlanta’s funkiest entertainment district.
