SMAWG (South Moreland Avenue Working Group) held its regular meeting with GDOT and ATLDOT on Wednesday. Some of the key takeaways:
Speed Limit Feedback Signs: The southbound sign was installed at Hall Street and is functioning. The northbound sign will be installed soon near Woodland Avenue. After the northbound sign is installed, GDOT will start providing data to the Atlanta Police to allow for enhanced speeding enforcement; Crosswalks – The plans for four crosswalks (with flashing lights and medianettes) have been submitted for final approval. GDOT will share the exact locations soon. Sidewalks – Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) Funds will be used to repair/replace some of the worst sidewalks along Moreland Avenue. The funds are expected to fund replacement of around two miles of sidewalks in total. Construction should begin in 2024.
