Runners for the Homeless

By Donna Meyers
On June 8, approximately 200 runners attended the Hands Around the Hill 5K Foot Race, raising $7,000 for the homeless. The nonprofit group, Hands around the Hill, awards grants to various organization  s that assist homeless people in the Capitol Hill area of downtown Atlanta.
Some of the funds from this year’s 5K will go to Central Presbyterian Church Night Shelter, which has received funds from past Hands Around the Hill fundraisers. For the first time this year, the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will offer a music therapy program in the form of a homeless men’s choir. It will be organized by Director of Music Donal Noonan.
