Presenting the Dance 411 Foundation: Formed to Serve the Community

By Jean Hallman
Dance 411 Studios recently teamed up with Atlanta ArtSpace Program and Journey Arts to form The Dance 411 Foundation.
The Dance 411 Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides the community a learning environment that trains adults and children in the arts. Students also receive life skills education such as etiquette, hygiene, professionalism, and performance training such as stage design. The Dance 411 Foundation is comprised of two main programs: Atlanta ArtSpace and Journey Arts: Community Outreach & After School Program.
Atlanta ArtSpace is a membership-based resource program, which offers a series of workshops to educate the community, specifically artists, on starting successful nonprofit and arts based businesses. The program provides business-building and artistic resources to foster success. Atlanta ArtSpace also opens Dance 411’s East Atlanta studio to performers, visual artists, and other creatives seeking rehearsal, screening, workshop, class, or small performance space. Atlanta ArtSpace will host a Building Your Personal Brand Day with headshots and artistic resume workshops in September. A legal and tax advice event will be held in October.
The Journey Arts: Community Outreach & After School Program enriches student’s academic and social skills. Students enrolled in this program are provided the opportunity to participate in ballet, jazz/hip hop, drama, art, and music lessons. This program is all year and available for churches, schools, daycares and community centers. Programs are low, to no cost, depending on the need of the adults or children being served.
The Dance 411 Foundation, formerly known as Journey Performing Arts Center, has had community partnerships with YMCA, the National Lighthouse Foundation, Wise Women Speak Foundation, and Sevananda. Last year Journey received funding from the Fulton County Arts Council, The American Recovery & Reinvestment Act, and Wachovia Bank.
