Calendar – October – November 2017
 
The next deadline for the calendar will be October 25, 2017. Calendar events take place in southeast Atlanta. The area is south of I-20 to Moreland Drive and includes Grant Park, Ormewood Park and East Atlanta. Weekly Activities
The following activities take place every week as listed.
CHILDREN/STORY TIME
Tiny Tots Storytime. East Atlanta Library, 400 Flat Shoals Avenue SE, for newborns to 5years, 10:30am (every Tue).
Cub Scout Pack 688. Park Avenue Baptist Church, 524 Park Avenue SE at the corner of Sydney Street. Contact David Griffin, 678-849-8619, or email griffin.david@yahoo.com.
Art Attack. Art classes for children ages 2-10, Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop, 924 Garrett St SE, Glenwood Park, $8, 1:30pm (every Tues).
 
SENIOR ACTIVITIES
Golden Age Center. St Paul United Methodist Church, 501 Grant Street SE, Rm R2. All senior citizens welcome 10:00am-2:00pm (Tues and Thurs).
 
OTHER GROUPS
East Atlanta Farmers Market. 561 Flat Shoals Avenue SE, starts in March, 4:00pm-8:00pm (every Thurs).
Grant Park Farmers Market. Cherokee Avenue SE at Milledge Avenue SE, starts in March, 9:30am-1:30pm (every Sun).
Friendship Center. Church of the Holy Comforter, 737 Woodland Avenue SE, 9:00am-1:00pm (Tues and Thurs).
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
-Georgia Avenue Church, 645 Grant Street SE, basement, 8:00pm-9:00pm (Thurs and Sat).
-Eastside Church, 468 Moreland Avenue SE (corner of Metropolitan Avenue SE) Street parking and also lot east of Long John Silver’s, basement fellowship hall, 7:00pm (every Mon); women’s meeting, basement East Atlanta Room, 7:00pm (every Wed); basement East Atlanta Room, 7:00pm (every Thurs); basement fellowship hall, 8:00pm (every Sat).

Oct 16             Early Voting Starts. At selected locations, runs through November 3, hours vary.
Oct 17             Grant Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA). Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave SE, ARC Building, south end of Cherokee Avenue parking lot. Everyone in Grant Park welcome, 7:30pm (3rd Tues).
Oct 19             Village Speakers Toastmasters Group. First Iconium Baptist Church, 542 Moreland Ave SE, Rm 104, 6:15pm-7:45pm (1st & 3rd Thurs).
                        Three Angles Toastmasters Club. Atlanta Metropolitan Seventh Day Adventist Church, 555 Hemlock Cir SE, 7:30pm-8:30pm (1st, 3rd, 5th Thurs).
                        South East Atlanta Business Association (SEABA). Local establishment to be announced, for more information call 404-226-3075, or check www.seabaga.org. Time varies (3rd Thurs).
The Filling Station: A Place to Refuel For The Chronically Ill. Park Avenue Baptist Church, 486 Park Ave SE, Young Adults’ room, handicapped entrance in rear alley off Sydney Street, for information call Stephanie at 404-295-4390 or email Annie at fillingstations@gmail.com. 6pm-7pm (3rd Thurs).
Oct 20             Art Reception for Walker Davis. East Atlanta Library, 400 Flat Shoals Ave SE, art will be on display on the gallery wall until the beginning of December, 6pm-8pm.
Tom Marnell Jazz Combo recital &Neighborhood Costume Party. East Atlanta Library, 400 Flat Shoals Ave SE, 6pm-8pm.
                        Halloween Lantern Parade. Grant Park
Oct 21             Circus Gala. Benefit for Neighbor-in-Need, at the Flat Shoals Farmhouse, 749 Flat Shoals Ave SE, music, vintage circus performance etc., general admission $50, www.eaca.net/neighbor-in-need-store, 8pm-11pm.
Fall Festival. East Lake Family YWCA, 275 East Lake Blvd SE, for Y members, 5pm-8pm.
Oct 22             Dogtoberfest. Farmers Market space, East Atlanta Village, 561 Flat Shoals Ave SE, dog costume contest $5, parade of adoptable pets, microchips, treats for dogs and humans. For more information email dogtoberfesteav@gmail.com or check the EAV Facebook page, 12pm-3pm.
