This October, Oakland Cemetery is buzzing with activity all month, culminating with Atlanta’s favorite Halloween tradition, the Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween tours. The tours will run from October 17 through October 27 from5:00pm to 11:00pm. The Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween tours are a fall tradition in Atlanta, and they sell out each year. For 2024, there’s a new route (which means new stories of Oakland’s residents) and promises two weekends filled with historical intrigue and delight. History, culture, and the thrill of Halloween converge during the tours, which are designed to enlighten rather than frighten. Costumed storytellers breathe life into the captivating and diverse tales of Oakland’s notable and notorious residents, while guiding guests in exploring the solemn beauty of Oakland after dark, illuminated by lantern light as the sun sets.
Live music adds a melodic backdrop to the start of the tour, with craft beer and an artisanal cocktail as the perfect complements to the spirited atmosphere.
