New Ad-Hoc Environment Committee Sets Zoom Meeting

By Steve Carr

Congratulations! After 12-plus years NPU-W finally re-established our Environment Committee, albeit as an ad-hoc committee for the rest of 2024.

Two current issues are (1) potentially unhealthy airborne particulates emanating from the illegal unpermitted City of Atlanta landfill at United Avenue and Avondale Avenue, and (2) the continued flooding of combined sewage and stormwater of the Peoplestown community that is immediately “upstream”/west of Grant Park. A very important redesign town hall meeting will be Thursday, September 12 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm at Barack & Michelle Obama Academy, 970 Martin Street in Peoplestown.

For any questions, issues, problems and/or agenda items, please call ad-hoc committee chair Steve Carr at 678-886-8666 or email ad-hoc co-chair Jack Gruendler at environment@npu-w.org. Meetings are on the second Monday of each month at 7:00pm online via Zoom. If you live in the Porch Press area (Neighborhood Planning Unit,NPU-W) you are invited to attend.
