Dear Porch Press,
I really enjoy driving around our neighborhoods seeing the beautiful decorations and lights at this time of year. Many people go to considerable effort to create a wonderful display, not only for the Christmas season, but for Halloween and other times too. The many lights give the area a friendly, neighborly, welcoming atmosphere.
Over the years many people have also enjoyed seeing the elaborate display of lighted figures at a house on East Confederate Avenue off Moreland Avenue. We will not see those lights this year because the homeowner, Carol “Skip” Marklien, is recovering from shoulder surgery. I’m going to miss it; I’m sure others will too.
Still as I drive around, I see many attractive lights to admire. I want to thank everyone who has done all the work to put up their lights. I receive great pleasure when I see those lights.
