More BATL Tours

By Henry Bryant
BATL, the organization formed to commemorate the Battle of Atlanta is continuing its schedule of tours throughout the year in 2016. The tour in January was postponed due to threatening weather, and ticket holders were offered tickets to a later tour. More tours are being added each month as the schedule is being confirmed. The updated schedule is posted at www.batlevent.org.
A Frontlines tour was scheduled for February 13. On March 6, BATL will offer a special Tour of the Trenches as part of The Atlanta Preservation Center’s annual Phoenix Flies. This tour will explore East Atlanta Village with an emphasis on preservation losses, challenges, and opportunities while looking at the historic structures and sites along the battle lines of 1864.
If you are new to the neighborhood, this is a good opportunity to find out more about the history of the area. The Tour of the Trenches is free, but it does require reservations, which can be made by calling (404) 688-3353. Spaces are limited, so please call early.
