For the past eight days, members of the community volunteered each night to light the Hanukkah menorah and say the daily prayers, even live-streaming it via The Porch Press Facebook page. Then last Saturday night, the community came together for the seventh night of the menorah lighting followed by the lighting of the Christmas tree thereafter and a visit by Santa on December 5. The event took place at the corner of Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenues in the East Atlanta Village. We were lucky to have members of the Maynard Jackson choir sing and friends of the East Atlanta Library handed out treats. Thanks to everyone for joining and kicking the holiday season off right!
