Meditative Practices to Support Pain Management

By Stephanie Turner
Many studies now hail guided meditation as a way to ease chronic pain. “The Filling Station: A Place to Refuel for the Chronically Ill” is a support group for people who live with chronic pain. The group has invited a guest speaker to their support group on Thursday, August 21 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. Mindfulness and its impact on overall health will be discussed. The speaker will also lead participants through a few meditative exercises. Individuals with chronic pain and illnesses or caregivers for loved ones with pain management needs are invited to join this free support group held every third Thursday of the month at Park Avenue Baptist Church from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
The church is located in Grant Park at the corner of Sydney and Park Avenues (486 Park Avenue). There is access from the front stairway or an easy-to-manage back entrance. The group’s organizers hope neighbors will join them, enjoy meeting community members, and feel supported. For questions, please email Stephanie Turner or Annie Lusk at fillingstations@gmail.com.
