Love Your Park (and Join the Grant Park Conservancy)

By The Grant Park Conservancy
While you’re taking advantage of all Atlanta has to offer for the holidays, take some time to wander through Grant Park. It’s the perfect way to savor the season and enjoy all that is happening in this wonderful park.
In 2014, there’s been a lot progress made towards the Grant Park Conservancy’s mission to care for Atlanta’s oldest and most historic public park. By working with a wide variety of groups, the Conservancy has added security and coordinated more than 1,000 volunteer hours to beautify and maintain the park and ensured the growing vitality of the Grant Park Farmers Market, the Grant Park Lantern Parade, and the Grant Park Summer Shade Festival, all of which are now cherished traditions in the park.
It has been an impressive year, and in the months ahead, here is some of what Grant Park Conservancy has in store for the park:

  • Lights are coming! Thanks to a partnership between Grant Park Conservancy, Georgia Power, and the city of Atlanta, Grant Park is finally going to be properly illuminated at night. (If you’ve been wondering what those little white flags are for, now you know!)
  • In May, another exciting event is coming: the Pick’n In Grant Park: BBQ & Music Festival. Stay tuned for details!
  • The Milledge Triangle Initiative: More than 400 of you provided input toward the vision for revitalizing the area surrounding the Milledge Fountain at the intersection of Cherokee and Milledge Avenues. The conservancy is developing final plans, which are available for review on their website. They recently received a $10,000 grant from Georgia Power Company for this undertaking. There’s much more work to be done and lots of money to be raised, but with your help, the Conservancy will create a stunning oasis.

If you love the park, please consider becoming a member of the Grant Park Conservancy. If you’re already a member, please consider renewing your membership. You can do so at www.gpconservancy.org.
The Conservancy’s goal is to support and protect Grant Park and to ensure that everyone who cares about or is affected by the park can play a part in shaping its future. The best way to get involved is to renew your membership! If you join or renew before January 30, 2015, you’ll receive a special member gift of your choosing. (Details are on the website membership page.)
Happy holidays from the Grant Park Conservancy.
