Patrica Davis-Daniel, East Atlanta librarian, has retired after a total of 39 years of service in the Fulton Library System. After nearly 30 years serving the East Atlanta branch, everyone wishes her all the best in her next phase. On October 5, branch manager Terra Cribbs, along with other library staff, friends, patrons, and representatives of the Friends of the East Atlanta Library, had a wonderful time celebrating her commitment and the spirit she held, for the patrons of the East Atlanta branch.
Davis-Daniel started her library career in August 1984, at the Alpharetta Branch and has worked at several other branches, including Ponce de Leon and Kirkwood. Of her 39 years, nearly 30 have been serving the community of East Atlanta.
Terra Cribbs says about Ms. Davis-Daniel, “When they say she’s seen it all, she really has. Ms. Davis-Daniel is known for high touch and highly personal delivery of customer service, which kept the branch open many times after library hours to serve the patrons. That is just the level of attention she gives everyone, from the first person to the last one, (everyone) will be given the same courtesy and respect. The community she serves will miss her smile and warm greetings, as will we.”
Davis-Daniel says, “Working for the Fulton County Library System has been a wonderful experience that has afforded me many valuable opportunities to learn and grow. I am very grateful to have been a part of this organization.”
So, what does life look like for Ms. Davis-Daniel after 39 years of service? With a big smile from ear to ear, “Lots of rest for the next six months and no grocery shopping on weekends ever again!” She and her husband recently received their official passports and are looking forward to some new adventures and that could mean a trip to Egypt in 2024. Everybody knows Ms. Davis-Daniel won’t be idle for long, she’ll be busy again climbing up and down ladders, upgrading house fixtures, and may squeeze in a new volunteer gig.
