East Atlanta resident and 3rd degree black belt Renard Beaty recently relocated his martial arts school, Kick Start Martial Arts, to the former Eye Drum space at 290 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SE. www.kickstartatl.com.
The newly renovated space was designed specifically to accommodate the goals of the Kick Start Martial Arts Program (KSMA).  Started in 2007, the school strives to be the premier in-town martial arts studio in Atlanta, instilling leadership, self-respect, confidence, and a high level of physical fitness and skill into each one of its students.
KSMA wants all students to find harmony between their mind, body, and spirit. By focusing and mastering the different moves, they are learning how to develop self-control and discipline. In other words, Beaty is enabling students to learn that success and confidence is achieved through hard work. “Students’ greatest enjoyment comes when they do a cool move they thought was impossible. The parents enjoy seeing their children becoming more respectful and disciplined and adults find satisfaction with the total body workout,” he says.
There are three categories of classes: Little Ninjas, ages 6&7; Youth, ages 8 to 17; and Adults. “My students have taught me to not teach down to them – they always rise to the level expected. This makes teaching gratifying,” says Mr. Beaty.
The newly constructed studio reflects a modern, hip, urban décor with padded flooring, state-of-the-art equipment, and glassed viewing areas for visitors. There is plenty of free, secure parking.
On June 15th, KSMA will host Chief Tong Mun Kim’s Black Belt Ceremony in combination with their grand opening. The public is invited to attend.
Mr. Beaty believes in supporting community events that improve the lives of youth.  Recently, KSMA students raised and donated money to a young cyclist who was hit by a car. Also, Beaty is personally donating six weeks of classes to 20 kids from Camp Summer Hope at Emmaus House, located in Peoplestown: www.emmaushouse.org.
Mr. Beaty has a Masters degree in training and development, and 20 years experience in leadership development and conflict management. He holds a 3rd degree black belt and is a master instructor candidate under Grand Master Sung Soo Kim and Tong Hwan Kim. He was granted certified instructor by Chief Grand Master Tong Mun Kim, president of Global Tang Soo Doo Association and Hall of Fame inductee.
Mr. Beaty welcomes all, especially adults, to come and view his studio and witness the skills being taught. He can be reached at (404) 664-3485 or contact him via email, kickstartatl@gmail.com.
