Experience the vibrant transition from spring to summer amid the lush gardens of Oakland Cemetery, where every corner tells a story and there’s no shortage of excitement on the horizon. In addition to late spring blooms, Oakland is now boasting newly smooth roads which make for easier and more enjoyable exploration.

If you haven’t visited Oakland recently to see what’s new, we know the perfect day to do it: All are invited to the Cemetery on June 15 for the annual Juneteenth Family Festival. Visitors will enjoy a day of free tours, storytelling, live music, kids’ crafts, and more. Don’t miss it! Visit our website for details.

Tickets to two of Oakland’s most popular events also go on sale soon:

  • On June 15, tickets go on sale for the iconic Sunday in the Park event, which celebrates its 46th year on Sunday, September 29. This year Sunday in the Park will once again feature the annual Tunes from the Tombs music festival alongside food trucks, craft beer, captivating cemetery tours, a bustling vendor/artist market, and more! Visit oaklandcemetery.com/sunday-in-the-park-2024 for a sneak peek at the musical lineup, event schedule, and, of course, tickets. Purchase your tickets by June 25 and you’ll enjoy some extra perks! See our website for details.
  • And mark your calendars—tickets for Historic Oakland Foundation’s most popular event, the Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween tours, go on sale to Foundation members on July 1 and to the public on July 15. Designed to enlighten rather than frighten, the Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween tours bring to life the stories of some of the Cemetery’s notable and notorious residents and allow visitors to experience Oakland Cemetery after dark. A costumed docent guides guests through Oakland’s beautifully lit Victorian gardens where they’ll meet some of Oakland’s fascinating residents and hear their tales. The evening also includes musical performances, craft beer and cocktails, and an Oakland gift shop. Tickets always sell out, so don’t wait to grab yours.

Amidst all this liveliness, June is also membership month at Oakland! All who join Historic Oakland Foundation or renew their memberships in June will be entered to win one of four amazing prize packs as well as the grand prize. Plus, members gain exclusive access to the Capturing the Spirit of Oakland presale starting July 1, early bird privileges for the Foundation’s spring and fall plant sales, complimentary guided cemetery tours throughout the year, and much more.
