Happy Birthday Natalyn, and Thanks!

By Henry Bryant

After serving the people of City Council District 5 for 20 years Council, Councilmember Natalyn Archibong has decided to back away from political office after an unsuccessful run for the City Council Presidency. That didn’t stop longtime supporters and residents of her former district from gathering on August 25th at Pullman Yards in Kirkwood to celebrate her birthday and years of service. To make things more fun, it was a surprise party and Natalyn was surprised. The party was organized by her daughter, Miriam Archibong, and her district successor, Liliana Bahktiari. The party featured a band, a disc jockey/MC, food, and drink. Pullman was a hub of activity with a “free” skate night in one of its buildings and the costumed Bridgerton Experience going on in another.  Mayor Andre Dickens came with a proclamation from the City of Atlanta, and Dekalb County CEO Michael Thurman also was there. Newly elected politicians joined retiring ones for the fete. Former State Representative Howard Mosby led a contingent of Family members. Below are some photos of the festivities that were taken by Jenny Murray and Carla Causey.
