Halloween Lantern Parade

By Marie Mower
Have you seen giant skeleton puppets that glow in the dark? You will at the Grant Park Halloween Lantern Parade, along with pumpkin and ghost lanterns made by anyone who wants to march in the parade! The Grant Park Conservancy is sponsoring this event by providing free lantern-making workshops to create 80 lanterns to be seen in the parade.
Everyone is encouraged to make a creative lantern at your own convenience if you miss the workshops. All are welcome to wear a costume and bring a lantern at 6:30pm on October 27 at the gazebo lawn in Grant Park (just below the Boulevard Parking lots). The route loops through the park with a one-mile distance, but there is a “family-fallout” just under half a mile. This allows families with little children to be in the parade at a shorter distance if one mile is too long for them.
