Grant Park’s Wythe Academy Announces Third Annual Children’s Business Fair

By Kristen Abernethy

Could a 10 year old invent the next Uber? Come find out at the Third Annual Children’s Business Fair!

We are inviting all children ages 5 to 15 to register as entrepreneurs for this fun and educational event. We would also love to invite the community at large to come support and shop. There will be all kinds of handmade goodies from these remarkable kids — from jewelry to artwork, from play kits to hand-baked treats. Children create a product or service, develop a brand, build a marketing strategy, and then open for customers at this one-day marketplace. Participants are responsible for their own setup, sales, and interactions with customers (with parent support, of course).

We believe the Children’s Business Fair instills leadership, courage, perseverance, and responsibility into young hearts and minds. To register to participate, please visit (There is no need to register in advance if you would like to shop only.) This event is free, open to the public, and will be held at Woods Chapel BBQ in Summerhill on Saturday, April 13th from 12:00pm-3:00pm. The address is 85 Georgia Avenue. Cash prizes of $50 will be awarded in each of the four age groups for “Most Business Potential,” “Most Creative Idea,” and “Most Impressive Presentation.”

The Children’s Business Fair is hosted by Wythe Academy, an Acton Academy located in Grant Park, and with the generous support of donors and volunteers. Opened in Fall 2022 by Ty and Kristen Abernethy, Wythe Academy is a new school in the neighborhood doing things differently. We are currently enrolling families for our Spark Studio, ages 4 to 6, and our Elementary Studio, ages 7 to 10, in our “one-room schoolhouse for the 21st century.” If you have any interest in learning more about the Acton model, please visit our website at or email
