  • Welcomed everyone and instructed people to make sure they sign in
  • Explained the agenda and open floor rules
  • Thank you to the zoo for allowing the use of the building
  • Explained voting eligibility
  • Next meeting is Tuesday, April 16 at 7:30pm
  • New member welcome and introductions

Announcements:

  • Household Hazardous Waste Event 4/27 from 9:00am to 1:00pm, Turner Field
  • Oakland Cemetery Announcement – Mary Woodland, Director of Volunteers and Special Events
    • Asking for support for spring event (One Day Music Event) on Saturday June 8 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm
    • Motion to support was made and seconded
    • Motion, approved
  • Minutes from the February 2013 meeting were presented

Treasurer, Michelle Botwick

  • Reviewed contents of the budget and cash position

Public Safety Chair, Chris Newman

  • Major Meadows Update
    • Discussed increase in carjackings
    • Some arrests were made
    • Next meeting at Martha Brown Methodist Church 3/27 6:30pm
    • No update from community prosecutor
    • Working on coordinating a 911 center tour
    • We encourage everyone to sign up for the smart 911 system
    • Citizens Police Academy coming up in April
    • Reminder that officers are enforcing the new 4-way stop signs
    • Park Atlanta is working in the area. Remember to park in the right direction on your street
    • Grant Park Security Patrol update

  • GPC and the community Farmers market group received $1,000 grant to create signage and build two benches for the farmers market area
  • Farmers market will open on Sunday April 21, 9:30am to 1:30pm
  • Next GPC Board meeting will be on 3/28 , 6:30pm at the Grant Park Recreation Center
  • Atlanta Sport and Social Club is having their Zombie Crawl 3/30, 1:00pm Oakland Cemetery

Economic Development Committee Chair, Chris Balch

  • SE Atlanta Business Association Soiree, 3/21 5:30pm at the Drafting Table
  • 4 businesses have joined this month as economic partners
    • Operation Boot Camp
    • Red Robin Group

    • Park Deli

Historic Committee Chair, Paul Simo

  • Had recent Historic Committee Mtg. on Monday 3/18
  • Continue to discuss refresh of design regs.
  • Discussed proper route to approve extensions to the back of your house
  • Next mgt. on 4/15/13 at 7pm at the Atlanta Preservation Center
  • Tip of the month: Most houses are considered “Historic”. Try to keep the historic siding intact. Earmark the existing rear corners of your house.

Land Use and Zoning Committee Chair, Rick Hudson

  • Next mtg will be held on 4/4/13 at 7pm at Zoo Atlanta ARC Bldg. Tech Lab
  • 800 Glenwood Project Update – No new application at this time

Technology Committee Co-Chair, Jason Parker

  • Technology Communications Survey being released

Fundraising Committee Chair, Nicole Levine

  • Tour of Homes planning. Date 5/11-12. Need homes and volunteers.

  • Requested motion to have Nicole approved as fundraising chair. So moved and seconded.
