On Friday, August 25, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Urban Health and Wellness will be opening its doors to members of the local community for an open house. The purpose of the event is to invite neighbors to see the clinic and ask questions, to provide information about the services offered by the clinic, and to encourage those who are interested to pledge support toward helping the clinic grow.
Urban Health and Wellness opened its doors on April 19, 2016, in the basement of the Georgia Avenue church building, located at 645 Grant Street. In just one year, the clinic has grown to a volunteer force of over 30 people and has conducted almost 500 patient visits. In addition, the clinic has achieved status as a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
Urban Health and Wellness provides 100% free medical services to eligible patients. Services include routine primary care, management of chronic illness and/or diseases, blood work and STD screenings, women’s health, and assistance with obtaining certain prescription medications. Patients eligible for care include adults only (18 and older) who are either uninsured or on Medicaid and whose household income is 200% or below the Federal poverty level. For additional details and eligibility information, interested parties may visit the website at www.uhw.clinic or call 404-618-6983.
