Results from GPNA Resolution: The resolution passed to oppose the acquisition of the prison farm by the Police. October is last month to get grant application in & vote in November. Thank you to Grant Park Coffee House. Their last day in that space is September 28.

Public Official Update
Galen Baxter, from Fulton County Board of Health, presents about mosquito surveillance. 10 West Nile virus positive pools were found, one of which is in Grant Park. They’re been spraying a fine mist pesticide between 9:00pm and 5:00am. Encourages neighbors to help get rid of standing water and wear mosquito repellent. Item One – Public Safety: Zone 6 Update – Lt Carroll Zone 6: Neighbor concern about a development being built of McDonald & Boulevard regarding construction before 9:00am. Concern about increasing price of parking fees from $20-$25. For any questions or concerns, my email is jcarroll@atlantaga.gov. Update that there have been a few car thefts, so reminder for people to not leave their car unattended. Change of agent for License & Review Board (LRB) hearings: Emmy squared and Zoo Atlanta. Mindy Thompson from SARD & LEFF attorneys presents. Zoo Atlanta: change of agent for alcohol license to Tasker Hewitt. Motion to approve & send to NPU passes. Concern about private entities encroaching on public space. Emmy Squared: change of agent for alcohol license to Stephen Trager. Motion to forward to NPU for further discussion passes.
Item Two – Land Use & Zoning: Final Discussion & Vote on U-21-014 Special Use Permit Application for Paid Parking in the Beacon complex at 1039 Grant Street. Committee recommended on Aug 26 to deny application 43 to 3. Vote to deny application and forward to NPU-W General Body passes. Topic for the upcoming September 23 LUZ meeting: Z-21-087 – Application presentation about historic designation of the Ormewood Ave Bridge (the Beltline Path). Special LUZ Meeting scheduled for Monday, October 4 at 7:00pm. For neighbor discussion and a vote on proposed ordinance 21-O-0454/Z-21-73, a proactive rezoning of parcels ½ mile from MARTA station platforms from R-4/R-5 to MR-MU – In Grant Park, about 50 parcels are affected. Historic District regulations are retained. Committee will notify all parcels affected. NPUs W & V are holding a joint work session/review of this ordinance as well as 21-O-0456/Z-21-74, which proposes to modify the MR-MU regulations, remove city parking requirements in residential zones, and allow for easier Accessory Dwelling Unit construction. Meeting is on Wednesday, September 29 at 6:30pm. Zoom info located at cityofatlantanpu-w.org. Affected neighbors mentioned previously will be informed of this meeting as well by the committee.
Item Three – Transportation: Reminder about Beltline Subarea 4 feedback. Loomis is now a two-way street. Lights changing to stop signs at Atlanta Avenue & Hill Street and Atlanta Avenue & Martin Street. Item Four – Homes & History: 308 Georgia Avenue will be building a new Accessory Dwelling unit (ADU) that will face Kent Street. The Homes & History committee meets every 4th Monday of the month.
