GPNA Meeting Minutes – July 21, 2015

President, Lauren Rocereta: Welcomed everyone, explained the agenda and open floor rules, and voting eligibility. Thank you to Zoo Atlanta for allowing the use of the building for the meeting. Next meeting is Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at 7:30pm. New member welcome and introductions. Ormond Grant Park is being renovated. Group is seeking donations. http://grantpark.org/ogp. Run Before You Crawl presented Grant Park Security Patrol with $4,000 donation. Citizens Advocate for City of Atlanta, Stephanie Ramage, introduced herself. She can help with any city related issue. Call her at 404-852-5657, sramage@atlantaga.gov. Mary Woodland, Oakland Cemetery: Sunday in the Park, October 4 – Motion to support approved unanimously. Capturing the Spirit of Oakland Halloween Tours, Oct 23-31 – Motion to support approved unanimously. House in the Park Festival, Sepembert 6 – Motion to support approved unanimously. Education: Parkside Elementary – Caitlin Sims (404-802-4100). Parkside is on the journey to become a K12 International Baccalurate program. Sept 25 is Jackson Cluster Football Night at Grady Stadium. Maynard Jackson – Stephanie Johnson (404-802-5240). Maynard Jackson has AP, IB, early college programs, and partnership with Georgia Tech. Maynard Jackson women’s track team brought home state championship. All senior girls on team received college scholarships. Grant Park Conservancy Update: Summer Shade Festival, August 29-30 – Volunteers Needed. GPPN Update: Music in the Meadow series continues. Next one is August 6, 5:30 to 7:15pm. Vice President, Jeffrey Rogers: Passed around sign-up and volunteer sheet, make sure info is correcat. Advised new members to check in or sign in. Motion to support Center for Working Families and Nicholas House with $250 approved unanimously. Economic Development Committee Chair, Rob Bernier: Grant Park Gathering, August 24, 6:00pm-8:00pm, Agave Restaurant. Public Safety Committee Chair, Chris Newman: You can volunteer for neighborhood watch by emailing brad.nevin@gmail.com. Zone 6 APD update – Lt. Desmond Floyd, Dfloyd@atlga.gov, 404-673-9423. Historic Design Regulations Sub Committee is working on rewriting regulations. Preservation Tip of the Month: Be an ACE (Accountable Creative Educated) when it comes to your home.
