GPNA Meeting Minutes – August 16, 2016

Vice-President Jeffrey Rogers welcomed everyone and explained the agenda, open floor rules, and voting eligibility. Thank you to Zoo Atlanta for allowing the use of the building for the meeting. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 20 at 7:30pm. New member welcome and introductions. Ad-hoc Bylaws Committee will convene on September 6 at 7:00pm at 991 Rawlins Street. GPNA 2017 Office and Board Nominations Period: 9/20/16 – 10/18/16. Camric Shultz: The Memorial Drive Gateway Park survey is available. Give your feedback on ideas for the park. Michelle Blackmon: GP Conservancy Grant Request for Milledge Fountain. Motion to donate $5,000 to Milledge Fountain project was approved with two objections. GPPN announced that they will also donate $1,000. City Council Member Carla Smith. Two active shooter and 911 call center tours will be offered in September.
Schools Update: Shevan Howard, IB Coordinator at King Middle School, provided updates on the school.
GPPN Update, Lauren Sumrall: Review of upcoming events. Passed around sign-up and volunteer sheet, make sure info is correct. Advised new members to check in or sign in.
Secretary Kristin Andris: July minutes will be presented at August meeting.
Public Safety Committee Chair Chris Newman: Mediterranea Liquor License Request for Support; motion approved unanimously. House in the Park Request for Support: Motion to send letter to event coordinator approved unanimously. Follow Court Watch to see how you can advocate for your community’s safety at trials. You can volunteer for neighborhood watch by emailing brad.nevin@gmail.com.
Zone 6 APD update – Lt. Floyd, Zone 6: Update on Crime. Keep your car clean and be aware of your surroundings. Fundraising: Mothball theme will be revealed on August 17.
Land Use and Zoning: Motion approved unanimously to continue zoning discussions with City of Atlanta. Plans to combine LUZ and Transportation Committees.
