Where can you dance and have fun for a great cause? The Canopy Soirée, of course! This spring, shake the winter chills and join the Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) for its sixth annual bash for the park. The GPC’s Canopy Soirée returns on March 27 from 8:00pm until 11:00pm at Zoo Atlanta. This annual gathering brings together neighbors, supporters, and friends of Grant Park for a night of music, dancing, and celebration that directly supports the Conservancy’s work in the park we all love.
Over the past year, the GPC has continued caring for Atlanta’s oldest park through restoration projects, ecological work, and educational programming. Highlights include the amazing new playground; a new signature entrance and gathering plaza at the Southeast Quadrant; the reclaimed Abana Courtyard, and new greenspace at the Erskine fountain; new interpretive educational signage, developed through a comprehensive public history project, sharing rich and complex stories about Grant Park; the resurfacing of the basketball courts, and a new vibrant plaza for our basketball, pickleball and tennis players to enjoy. We have also conducted extensive tree pruning; planted specially curated native gardens at Constitution Spring and Loomis Plaza; and continued habitat restoration efforts at the Cherokee Wetlands, Constitution Spring, and the Pond, preserving our park’s ecological health.
Much of this work is made possible through individual donations, grants, and community fundraising events like the Canopy Soirée. Whether you’re catching up with friends, meeting new neighbors, or dancing the night away, the Canopy Soirée offers a unique chance to support the park that so many in the community use year-round.
Funds raised this year will support the Milledge Fountain Outdoor Classroom and Theatre, the new GPC Park Care Center, ongoing ecological care throughout the park, and our popular Summer Shade Festival.
