It’s happening! The Grant Park Conservancy (GPC) has officially broken ground on a new playground, and we are proud to lead this effort to bring an updated, inspiring play space to the park, designed with today’s kids in mind.
The old equipment has been removed and donated, and site preparations are underway. Construction will take place over three community build days later in October. Once complete, the playground will offer a fresh, modern play experience where children and families can play and grow for years to come.
To bring this project to life, GPC has partnered with KABOOM!, a national nonprofit that helps communities build kid-designed play spaces; KOMPAN, playground equipment experts; and our generous corporate sponsor, Delta Air Lines. The final design is the result of months of collaboration, including input from families, community members, and playground design experts.
The playground site will remain closed through the end of October, and we look forward to seeing it filled with smiles, laughter, and adventures once it reopens!
To help support the playground build, the GPC is offering engraved bricks for purchase. Individual bricks cost $150 and include up to three lines of text and one special symbol like a heart, star, flower, or paw print. Business Bricks start at $1,000 and are a great way for businesses to show their support and gain visibility in the community.
Please support the new playground, and let’s make it a place where wonderful memories are made! Bricks can be purchased at https://tinyurl.com/gpcbricks.
Refreshed Basketball Courts and New Courts Plaza

But it’s not only the kids who are getting an upgraded play experience in the park! Late this summer we made improvements to and resurfaced the basketball courts. We also installed a new gathering area, Courts Plaza, now open for tennis, pickleball, and basketball players to enjoy.
Bright and fun, Courts Plaza is a vibrant hub where players can relax between games and connect with others. We’re grateful for the volunteers who pitched in to spruce up the area! They spread mulch, repainted planters, and added close to 50 new plants that provide additional color and cheer.
This project was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Atlanta Hawks, and we hope Courts Plaza will become a favorite hangout spot for everyone who loves to play in the park!
