Friends of East Atlanta Library host book signing with local author of Hiking Atlanta’s Hidden Forests.

By Gina Root

The Friends of East Atlanta Library (FEAL) wrap up a busy summer and move into the fall with several more exciting events. The events include a book signing with local author, Jonah McDonald, the fall book sale and new art on display in the East Atlanta Library meeting room.

FEAL will host a book signing and reception with local author Jonah McDonald, featuring his new book, Hiking Atlanta’s Hidden Forests: Intown and Out, on August 2 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Listing 60 hikes within 30 miles of Georgia’s Capitol dome, the new guide shows both experienced and casual hikers how to get out on the trails without leaving the city. Of the 60 hikes, 20 are inside the perimeter and nearly half have appeared in no other guidebook. Hike routes range from less than a mile to 12 miles. Copies of the book will be on sale during the reception, and the Friends will provide wine and refreshments.

Also scheduled in August is a showing of the work of local artist, Joy Hartsfield, on the art wall at the East Atlanta Library. Ms. Hartsfield is an art therapist at Emory. For more details, follow Friends of East Atlanta Library on Facebook.

The fall book sale will take place on September 27 during the East Atlanta Strut. This year the book sale will take place on the plaza just outside the East Atlanta Library. The Friends are looking to liquidate their inventory for the end of the year. Most books will be priced at $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks, but some will be priced to sell at $7 for a bag.
