By Regina Brewer
The City of Decatur, in partnership with the Georgia Historic Preservation Division and the DeKalb History Center, will hold the Fourth Annual Decatur Old House Fair on Saturday, February 18, 2012 from 9:00am to 5:00pm at the newly renovated conference center located at 130 Clairemont Avenue in downtown Decatur.  Tickets are $10 in advance and  $15 at the door, and may be purchased online or at select local establishments.
The Decatur Old House Fair is daylong event that educates historic homeowners on the best practices for restoring, renovating, preserving, and maintaining their old houses.  This year the event will offer a new format of “short bite” half hour lectures on electrical 101, plumbing 101, chimneys 101, selecting exterior colors, aging in place, and more. Traditional seminars include researching your old house, landscapes for historic homes, energy efficiency, storm windows, and kitchen and bath solutions.  The popular hands-on-wood window workshop will be offered again as well.   The Fair also includes a large exhibit hall of professionals, retailers, and suppliers specializing in home improvement, historic preservation, and interior furnishings.
The exhibit area opens at 9:00am; seminars begin at 10:00am. For a complete seminar schedule, exhibitor details, and ticket information, visit www.DecaturOldHouseFair.com.
