Farmers Markets Welcome the Dogs Back

By Carlen Hultgren
Community Farmers Markets, including the East Atlanta and Grant Park weekly markets, is excited to welcome dogs back to all their markets for the 2016 season. Over the last six months a dog policy was developed to make sure all our furry friends could again be welcome at the markets in the safest way possible. Feedback was collected from the community and best practices around the country were studied to create a policy that puts safety first for humans and canines alike. All customers who bring dogs to market are asked to practice responsible ownership of their pets.
Market Dog Policy
Owners are responsible and liable for their dogs. Dogs must be under control, on a short, non-expandable leash, and by the (adult) owner’s side at all times.
Dogs must be kept away from produce, plants, food products, and product displays. Items damaged by pets must be purchased by the owner.
Dogs must be socialized with other dogs and children. Barking and growling is not allowed. Aggressive dogs are not welcome.
Owners should be considerate of vendors and other guests; not everyone enjoys dogs.
Dog owners must clean up after their pets.
CFM management will request owners to remove dogs from the market if the above rules are violated.
CFM extends a big “Thank You!” to all customers, vendors, and dogs for keeping the market safe for everyone. Please visit the information booth at any market with questions or concerns.
The East Atlanta Farmers Market is open Thursdays 4:00pm to 8:00pm, now through December 22, with occasional Saturdays and extra days around the holidays. The Grant Park Farmers Market is open Sundays from 9:30am to 1:30pm, now through December 18. Check out CFMATL.org for more information.
