East Atlantan in Gamechanger

By Henry Bryant
Former East Atlanta Community Association president Austin Dickson has been named a 2014 Gamechanger by GeorgiaForward, a statewide organization dedicated to shaping the policy debate in Georgia. Austin was chosen because of his example of outstanding leadership in the community and as Executive Director of Literacy Action, a non-profit which works directly and through advocacy to help adults learn to read and further their education to obtain a high school degree.
This year’s crop of Gamechangers has taken on a project to help with economic and community development in a particularly challenged section of the state, Dublin-Laurens County. Austin will bring his knowledge of adult literacy to ensure that the area keeps assisting low literate adults in the equation as it establishes strategies and begins work. He will also bring his community development experience from our area of town to the task with this group.
