East Atlanta Library Hosts Neighborhood Party

By Katina Van Kronkhite
Atlanta pop art painter R. Land and the southern string trio the VaudeVillains will be featured at the Friends of East Atlanta Library’s annual neighborhood party on Friday, October 21, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the library. This year’s event, Southern Cool Cats, will include a gallery showing and short program highlighting R.Land’s works at 7:15pm. Wine and refreshments will be served.

  1. Land is one of Atlanta’s most well-known artists with a distinctive graphic style. His ubiquitous street art works, such as “Loss Cat” and “Pray for ATL,” are found throughout many in-town neighborhoods. Several of his older works as well as newer pieces will be on display during the evening and on the Gallery Wall at the East Atlanta Library through December.

The VaudeVillains will bring their unique Dixie jazz swinging and toe-tapping style to original arrangements and old standards of country music. Their music has been described as landing “somewhere between being country gentlemen and your inappropriate country cousins.”
Members of Friends of East Atlanta Library will be able to vote for new board members upon arrival, and the new board will be announced at the conclusion of the evening. The event is open to the public at no charge.
