East Atlanta Authors Speak at Barnes & Noble

By Chuck Barfield
Henry Bryant and Katina VanCronkhite, authors of Images of America: East Atlanta will be featured and signing their newly released book at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in the Edgewood Retail District on Sunday, May 4 at noon. They will be discussing some of the historical highlights and stories of East Atlanta that they uncovered and some of the challenges of writing a local history. As part of the American Library Association’s National Preservation Week celebration, they will also give examples of how the preservation of local documents and images was critical to retelling of this community’s past and shaping it into the history for the future.
Images of America: East Atlanta contains more than 200 vintage images, many of them never before published. Bryant and VanCronkhite spent more than a year researching and gathering photos from current residents, former residents and several local, city and national archives.
The authors will also be sharing more about East Atlanta’s history as they lead the “From Front Lines to Front Porch” walking tour on May 3 as part of the city’s kickoff of the 150th celebration of the Battle of Atlanta. Please read the Porch Press story for more information about the tour.
Barnes & Noble in the Edgewood Retail District is located at 1217 Caroline Street at Moreland Avenue.
