While September 22 seems far away as spring has barely made its way here, meetings and activities to plan for and support the EAV Strut are in in full bloom. Meeting monthly, the committee heads and other volunteers are busy preparing for another great Strut in East Atlanta Village.
First on the schedule of Strut supporting events is the 2018 Holy Taco Pop Up: Artist Market and Benefit for EAV Strut, organized by the East Atlanta Strut and Pop Up Posse. It will be held Sunday, May 27, 12:00 to 7:00pm at Holy Taco, 1314 Glenwood Avenue, and Motor City South, 1326 Glenwood Avenue, in East Atlanta Village. Shop over 40 vendors, enjoy live music and meet some friendly llamas this Memorial Day weekend in East Atlanta.
Artists have been selected by Chris Wright of Pop Up Posse and Chris Makes Art. The diverse vendors include fine artists, printmakers, clothes makers, jewelers, and more. Many of these artists are excited to return after the initial pop up last year. There will be live music courtesy of local bands Chickens & Pigs, BlackFox, and And That is Why, and others. The bands are sponsored by PBR and will be performing live in the parking lot at Motor City South.
As an added treat, Llamas from Southeast Llama Rescue will be invading the event early to sell raffle tickets to benefit the EAV Strut. Raffle prizes include original items from each artist in the Pop Up, EAV souvenirs, and a chance to lead a llama in the EAV Strut Parade on September 22.
