CampOne to Begin Second Year of Summer Camps in Ormewood Park

By Italia Kostrinsky

Camp One, a weekly recreational and educational summer camp for children ages 5-11, will begin a second summer of programs on May 30th at Ormewood Methodist Church in Southeast Atlanta.

Under the supervision of former Parkside Elementary schoolteachers Italia Fulmer Kostrinsky and Lauren Miles Palmas, Camp One will feature a variety of weekly, themed camps, including “Our Feelings and Emotions,” “People and Places,” “Empathy and Compassion,” and similar inspiring themes.

The main goal, of course, is fun. Campers participate in a variety of activities from crafting, video editing, and skit writing to good, old-fashioned play.

Kostrinsky says, “Throughout, we emphasize human connections, and promote thoughtful and reflective practices through engaging, hands-on, and kid-friendly programming.”

“I was so excited when I learned Lauren and Italia were starting a summer camp,” says Grand Park parent Emily Butcher. “I just knew it would be a loving and fun environment. They were two of the most favorite teachers among kids and adults at Parkside and I’m constantly in awe of these lovely ladies.”

Currently, all weeks of the camp have at least a handful of openings available.

Ormewood Methodist Church is located at the corner of Woodland and Delaware Avenues in Ormewood Park and is central to intown neighborhoods from Summerhill to Decatur.
