The next deadline for the calendar is October 25, 2018. Calendar events take place in southeast Atlanta, the area south of I-20 to Moreland Drive, and includes Grant Park, Ormewood Park, and East Atlanta.
 
Weekly Activities
The following activities take place every week as listed.
CHILDREN/STORY TIME
Tiny Tots Storytime. East Atlanta Library, 400 Flat Shoals Avenue SE, for newborns to 5 years, 10:30am (every Tue).
Cub Scout Pack 688. Park Avenue Baptist Church, 524 Park Avenue SE at the corner of Sydney Street. Contact David Griffin, 678-849-8619, or email griffin.david@yahoo.com.
Art Attack. Art classes for children ages 2-10, Rhen’s Nest Toy Shop, 924 Garrett Street SE, Glenwood Park, $8, 1:30pm (every Tues).
 
OTHER GROUPS
Sunday Running Group. East Atlanta Village, meet at Flat Shoals and Glenwood Avenues near Joe’s Coffee Shop, 3-mile run, 9:00am (Every Sunday).
Friendship Center. Church of the Holy Comforter, 737 Woodland Avenue SE, 9:00am-1:00pm (Tues and Thurs).
Art Shows at the East Atlanta Library. 400 Flat Shoals Avenue. Meeting room. Open during regular library hours. Ask at the circulation desk if the room is locked and unoccupied. Shows typically change every two months. Check the library lobby area on the bulletin board and inside the library for additional information.
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
– Georgia Avenue Church, 645 Grant Street SE, basement, 8:00pm-9:00pm (Thurs and Sat).
– Eastside Church, 468 Moreland Avenue SE (corner of Metropolitan Avenue SE) Street parking and also lot east of Long John Silver’s, basement fellowship hall, 7:00pm (every Mon); women’s meeting, basement East Atlanta Room, 7:00pm (every Wed); basement East Atlanta Room, 7:00pm (every Thurs); basement fellowship hall, 8:00pm (every Sat).

October 16               Grant Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA). Zoo Atlanta, 800 Cherokee Ave SE, ARC Building, south end of Cherokee Avenue parking lot. Everyone in Grant Park welcome. 7:30pm (3rd Tues).
October 18               South East Atlanta Business Association (SEABA). Local establishment to be announced, for more information call 404-226-3075, or check www.seabaga.org. Time varies (3rd Thurs).
                                    Village Speakers Toastmasters Group. First Iconium Baptist Church, 542 Moreland Ave SE, Rm 104, 6:15pm-7:45pm (1st & 3rd Thurs).
                                    Three Angles Toastmasters Club. Atlanta Metropolitan Seventh Day Adventist Church, 555 Hemlock Cir SE, 7:30pm-8:30pm (1st, 3rd, 5th Thurs).
                                    The Filling Station: A Place to Refuel for fhe Chronically Ill. Park Avenue Baptist Church, 486 Park Avenue SE, Young Adults’ room, handicapped entrance in rear alley off Sydney Street. October 19               Friends of the East Atlanta Library Annual Meeting and Artist Reception for Terry Gardner. 400 Flat Shoals Ave SE. Meet the artist and enjoy refreshments and live entertainment. 6pm-8pm.
October 20               Second Annual “Commit to King” Fall Festival, Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School, 545 Hill St SE, 10am to 2pm.
October 21               Dogtoberfest 2018. A family-friendly event that promotes responsible pet ownership. Shop vendors and find out information about all your animal needs. There will be adoptables and a raffle for great prizes. The annual Halloween dog costume contest and pet parade will take place with only a $5 entry fee per dog. 572 Stokeswood Ave SE. 12pm-3pm.
October 24               Neighborhood Planning Unit W (NPU-W). Village Church East Atlanta, 1271 Glenwood Ave SE, use street parking only, 7:30pm (4th Wed).

October 29               EAVOween. Free and open to the public. Free costumes can be picked up at the Farmers Market every Thursday or donated at Joe’s Coffee, ScreenFixing.com, or Burgess-Peterson Academy. 572 Stokeswood Avenue. 5pm costume contest; 6:30pm trick or treating in the Village; 8pm Not So Scary Movies and S’mores.
