Cabbagetown Clay and Glass Works (CCGW) is having its Tenth Annual Holiday Sale on weekends in December and is kicking things off with a preview night reception on the evening of Friday, December 2. CCGW is a cooperative of nine local clay and glass artists and is located at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Boulevard, between Memorial Drive and I-20.
CCGW has a beautiful selection of distinctive holiday items as well as non-seasonal decorative and functional pieces that will spread joy all year long. All works are made by member artists. CCGW potters use a variety of techniques such as slab and coil building, wheel throwing, raku, and wood firing, with pieces that cover a broad aesthetic spectrum. CCGW’s glass offering includes a vibrant array of fused works, with wall and window hangings as well as functional wares and accent pieces.
For the person on your list who could use a little hands-on creativity, CCGW classes make great presents. If you would like to put your own colorful stamp on the holidays, CCGW will also be offering “Paint Your Own Ornament”. A $5 per piece charge includes ornament, supplies, and firing during weekend holiday hours. Kids with an accompanying adult are welcome! And, if you’re not sure what to choose, gift certificates are also available.
CCGW is located at 588 Woodward Avenue SE. The preview night reception is on Friday, December 2, from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. CCGW’s holiday sale is on Saturdays and Sundays in December (last day December 18) from 10:00am to 4:00pm. There will also be special evening hours on Thursday, December 22 for a holiday event with CCGW’s neighbor, Stone Soup Kitchen (6:00pm to 10:00pm). In addition, artists are at the studio during the week and welcome you to stop in. Or you can arrange a time to visit by calling Devanie Schilpp at 678-778-7082. CCGW accepts cash, checks, and major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover.
