The recent Benteen Park Fall Fest left our neighborhood buzzing with excitement! As residents enjoyed the festivities, we heard again and again—many did not even know the park existed. Residents of Benteen Park are thrilled to share our hidden gem with the South Atlantans for Neighborhood Development (SAND) district and surrounding neighborhoods. So, welcome! We hope you’ll enjoy watching us grow.
The first annual festival served as an introduction to the park’s unique charm, sparking conversations about its potential as a community hub. The beauty and potential of Benteen Park, the only Atlanta city park nestled within the SAND district, became a catalyst for community engagement and discovery. As a result, a dedicated group of volunteers have decided to channel that energy into something more enduring.
The Friends of Benteen Park community group was born, officially recognized under the umbrella of Southeast Atlanta Neighborhood Development (SAND). With officers Kate Bruce, Sarah Price, and David Clifford appointed and registered with Park Pride, the group is set to advocate for the park’s ongoing maintenance and development.
Friends of Benteen Park aims to involve the community in shaping the park’s future. By partnering with Park Pride, the group plans a park visioning process to gather community input on development. Residents are encouraged to share their ideas and volunteer.
Join the momentum as we come together to ensure Benteen Park’s continued growth and community-led evolution.
