The Battle of Atlanta Commemoration Organization (BATL) has just set three tours to fill the remainder of a year of monthly tours on the battlefield in southeast Atlanta. On Saturday, October 28 there will be a Frontlines Tour at 10:30am. The weather is usually crisp and cool at this time of year, perfect for a walking tour unlike the hot July weather that the soldiers endured during the actual Battle of Atlanta in 1864. This tour is along Flat Shoals Avenue and the surrounding blocks featuring stories about the men who fought and died here as well as interesting bits of East Atlanta History. On Saturday, November 18 at 10:30am there will be a Civil War to Civil Rights Tour on a different part of the historic battlefield. It will feature wartime stories and sites as well as stories of conflicts that happened there about 100 years later. On Friday, December 29 at 11:00am there will be a repeat of the Frontlines Tour, BATL’s longest running and most popular offering. This tour is perfect for out of town guests and bored students on holiday vacation. All of the tours require advance reservations with tickets available online at www.batlevent.org. For more info you can call 404-377-6148.
